This study explores the role of social media - especially social networking sites - Facebook, in spreading the culture of volunteer work among young people, especially university youth in Saudi Arabia. The study used the descriptive method and developed a questionnaire to collect data from 414 students from different universities in Saudi Arabia, who were chosen by the random sampling method. The results indicated that Facebook effectively promotes volunteer work campaigns and contributes effectively to introducing students to more aspects of volunteer work. The results indicated that there were statistically significant differences in the responses of the respondents about the role of Facebook in promoting the culture of volunteer work due to gender. The findings also revealed that the statistical differences between the responses of the participants were not statistically significant because of the difference in the student's faculty.es_ES
